Caves de la Tzintre

VAL-DE-CHARMEY

The cellars at La Tzintre house wheels of PDO Alpine Gruyère and PDO Alpine Vacherin Fribourgeois. They were built in 2012-2013 and can store 1,500 wheels of Vacherin Fribourgeois and 6,000 of Gruyère. The cellars are managed by the Coopérative fribourgeois des producteurs de fromages d'alpage. The cooperative has 34 producer members, three quarters of whom sell all or part of their production. The cheeses are then matured in the Tzintre cellars, where they are turned over and rubbed with salt water. A visit to the cellars is followed by an aperitif and cheese tasting.
