Sentier de la Poya
ESTAVANNENS-LESSOC
Poya refers to the climb to the mountain pastures, but also to the paintings on wood that adorn the lintels of farmhouses. The starting point for the walk is the church at Estavannens-Dessus. The path runs slightly uphill, offering a magnificent panorama of the Intyamon valley. Before leaving Estavannens-Dessous, it's worth making a diversion to the Chapelle du Dâ and the waterfall of the same name. The path then continues through fields and trees before reaching Grandvillard. Many of the village's historic buildings have information panels. Another diversions to the Grandvillard waterfall and grotto offers a more natural experience. Shortly after Grandvillard, at Le Buh, the Notre-Dame du Roc chapel, dating from 1684, is also worth a stop. The trail then continues through fields and forest to Lessoc. Apart from its magnificent poyas, the Lessoc church is also remarkable for its carved wooden ceiling and ancient frescoes. The covered fountain in the centre of the village is also worth a visit.
