Musée Gruérien
BULLE
Ideally situated between the town's gardens, the castle and the town's historical trail, the Musée gruérien showcases the heritage of the Gruyère region. The story begins with the manufacture and transport of cheese, before moving on to crafts and the beginnings of industry. A tour of the interior of a farm and a mountain hut provides an insight into the daily life of the local population, before taking a step back to look at the development of the town of Bulle. Key dates in 1722, 1912 and 2002 show the architectural changes. A diversion from the Middle Ages to the 19th century shows the territories of these periods, while also looking at religion and relations with the surrounding world. All of this is represented, of course, by emblematic images of the region, models, reconstructions and projections, as well as interactive games for younger visitors.
The museum is renowned for its collections: poyas, bells, carved spoons, costumes and straw work. The art, history and traditions of Bulle and the Gruyère region are all on display in an area of 1000m2, with hundreds of objects and images. Temporary exhibitions and activities, especially for children, punctuate the life of the museum.
